Michigan in the Sesquicentennial Update

Keith Harrison Class image   Instructor: Keith Harrison

Is your re-enacting group ready for the start of the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War next year? Do you want to know what Michigan and the re-enacting community are doing for it? Do you know a bit already and want an update?

Keith Harrison will provide us an update on how plans for the Sesquicentennial celebrations are progressing at the State level. He will share what we can do to help and talk about the variety of celebrations planned. He also will enlighten us as to what other types of groups (Civil War heritage organizations, museums, roundtables, and libraries) are considering to broaden our fellow citizen’s knowledge of the event and increase their enjoyment of learning about the Civil War.

Other people active in organizing the state for the Sesquicentennial celebrations may also join Keith. We recommend that at least one member of each group present attend this class to take the information back to their group.

Keith has been a reenactor since 1982. He is the past Captain and current president of the 7th Michigan Volunteer Infantry, Company B., Inc and Major periodically serving as Chief of Staff or Assistant Adjutant General for the Cumberland Guard. He is the current chair of the Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee’s Civil War Partner’s Steering Group. He also is the Past National Commander-in-Chief of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and current National Commander-in-Chief of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States.
